You all must have noticed by now how reliant I am on belts. I was slightly miffed to realise that my new purple belt (from Peacocks £3) despite being a size small, was in fact too big. I’ll have to somehow punch more holes in it. This is very annoying as quite often some size small belts are way too tight. Why don’t they just sell belts with like 10 or 20 holes in? Why just 5 or 6? Don’t they realise a bit of bloating renders a belt out of the question at short notice?! So yes, as I was about to say, I needed the purple belt to hold up my jeans and the bluey belt to keep the cardi in snug.
This blouse is turning into a nightmare to wear. In short it’s 80’s and two sizes too big, with big shoulders, nipped in waist and darts for the bust. All very inappropriate. In the 80’s most waistlines were at the waist, so this blouse hasn’t got the length to be successfully worn with low rise bottoms. Which is pretty much all I own. Riiiiiight. On the plus side the blouse has a supercute pattern which looks like butterflies.

This is such an original, unique look, wearing two belts. I really love the 80s blouse. I know that shirts today are made *much* longer than even ten years ago, generally, so I have run into this problem several times. If you really love the blouse, you might be able to thrift some higher waisted pants to wear with it for as little as $3 or $4. And if it has shoulder pads, those are super easy to remove.

Love this look, I am always belting things in at my waist. So true about belt holes I am constantly punching holes in my belts, they should do more! cute blouse as well btw xxx
ReplyDeleteI like that blouse. If you can sew, you might be able to alter the blouse a little.
ReplyDeleteI always have to punch extra holes in belts - S/M never fit me and M/L don't hold trousers securely enough! You'd think the fashion industry would have sorted out such a common dilemma by now! lol
ReplyDeleteThis double belted look shows off your tiny waist. I don't think I would have thought about double belting, though. It's a cute look. Very whimsical and unique.

argh the belt problem is so annoying! and often you cant try the belt on in the shop because they put the security tag on the buckle so you can't do it up! waaahh!!!!!
ReplyDeleteVery cute vintage blouse, if the shoulders are padded you could always cut it out if you were so inclined, I've done this with a lot of shirts my mum passed on to me.
ReplyDeleteVery cute outfit hun. I love how you've belted everything just to give it all that little bit of structure! FANTASTIC colour on your belt too lol , great choice ^_^

I know exactly what you mean about belts: S M and L don't mean much - if they made 2 sizes with way more holes, it would fit more people and surely they'd sell more too? I love the double belted look, fab!
ReplyDeleteWith 80s blouses, sometimes I layer them over a plain strappy dress to look like a skirt, as I find they come up short with most modern trousers too.
Love your jeans! They fit you perfectly. x hivenn
ReplyDeleteWell you might be having trouble but it isn't noticeable! The blouse looks great. i must say I am very jealous you being able to fit into a small belt. That being said you are spot on ref the holes, never enough no matter what size you have.

ReplyDeleteI like the two belts look, I don't think I've seen anyone do that! I totally agree that belts should have more holes in, it seems logical to me!!
ReplyDeleteLove the pattern on the blouse. and it has a sheen I like. Not seen any blogger wearing double belts, looks really good in different colors
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. I'm impressed by anyone who can manage belts. I have a tough time with them!
