Weekend away: Friday

29.7.11d29.7.11a29.7.11b29.7.11c

Wearing here, mesh top over coral cami, matching coral belt and river island black shorts with DP wedges. Shocking shots I know, but this was the only chance I got and sadly I’m sporting no makeup but several blemishes. Don’t look too close!

I’ve just got back from a short weekend away. Two nights in Sheffield it was.

I’ve never given Sheffield much thought before, so had no real idea of what to expect. I imagined it might rain though. So Friday afternoon we spent a horrific 5.5 hour journey to go about 150 miles. So many hold ups and delays it was ridiculous! So once we dumped our bags at the hotel we went to the Meadowhall shopping centre and spent  couple of hours wandering around and getting some food. We ate at some homemade burger place. The food was good but the service was SLOW. I didn’t buy a single thing but that is an excellent result for a shopping trip in my view!

We had a lazy drink in the hotel bar in the evening and enjoy a chill-out.I’ll be posting more pics in the near future. We had a great weekend but on the flipside I’m left with a lot of catching up to do on housework this afternoon. Boo.

Hope you all had a fab weekend too!

Life is full of risks

Life is full of risks. I love a good sign to let me know if there is some extra special unusual risk I need to be aware of.
Risk of slipping on small triangles. If you see small triangles on your route ahead, BEWARE! They are very slippery
risk3
Risk of losing an arm while ducking under an oblong. Must be a very sharp oblong. It would be such a nuisance to lose an arm like that.
risk1
Risk of feeling the need to try the ‘singing in the rain’ side kick next to a mounting block. When the urge hits; RESIST!
risk2
Risk of falling off big squares. Watch out for those big squares people.
risk4
And finally my personal favourite…
Risk of having a “D’OH!” moment.
risk5
Life is full of risks. Be careful out there. And watch out for really helpful signs.

Some you lose

28.7.11c28.7.11a28.7.11b28.7.11d
I have to admit straight up that I’m wearing 4 inch heels under this skirt and that’s why I now look out of proportion! I wanted to wear this skirt with a flowing billowy blouse. I picked this one up as I knew it was along the right lines. I bought it from Ebay for about £3.50 all in, thinking it would be a flowing sheer blouse. Its sheer alright, but it has an elasticated middle which prevents the flowing look I was after. This look turned out nothing like what I hoped for.
Some you win, some you lose.

Get shirty

19.6.11a19.6.11b19.6.11c

ah, a trusty fallback set of shots for when I’ve failed to keep up with editing. I wore this outlook while on holiday a few weeks back. I really love the cute florality about this shirt. Its not a shirtdress, it buttons down to crotch level. Serious design flaw!

This was before I trashed these, my favourite, pair of jeans. *sighs*. This is one of my favourite belts. I have about ten but would really like some more. None usually seem just what I need, but this one is just perfect. It really sucks my waist in and the ickle sleeves broaden my shoulders. Hello hourglass effect!

I am actually wearing slippers too. Oh pants. my mind was elsewhere!

Bootiful

27.7.11d27.7.11a27.7.11b27.7.11e27.7.11c27.7.11f

When I saw that the brief to Everybody Everywear was pattern mixing I was really excited and planned to put something fun together. Then I got busy and forgot. Looking back to this post I like the tasteful mix of snowleopard and checked scarf.

Everybody, Everywear | Pattern Mixing

I popped on my new boots from River Island to get these shots. They’re possibly a bit too small. I always have trouble identifying if shoes fit. They’re probably too small, so I’m undecided whether to try wearing them or if I should just ebay them. I don’t think they take returns on sale items and I’m not due to head back to a store any time soon.
Yesterday my hubby took me to see Harry Potter 7 part2 at the cinema. Yes, we went on bargain day. We saw it in 3D. The glasses alone were amazeballs. I had a lovely evening out and really enjoyed the film.
I wore something very similar last night but REALLY REALLY REALLY annoyingly I didn’t take any photos so I have nothing to show you. So frustrated with myself.
I have lost two followers overnight! How sad, you will be missed. 200 follower giveaway is getting further away!
Whilst I remember, I just wanted to give a nod to the UK Bloggers Map which has revolutionised finding other local bloggers of a style/fashion based nature. I will be finding some fellow Norfolk and East Anglian bloggers to follow.

Mesh

p3p1p2p5p4

This mesh top is one of the few drapey tops I own. Its really quite un-me. I wore this look a couple of months ago and never posted it (I think). Its a look I quite like really summery yet warm enough for the cool breeze that we tend to get.

I would like to say a big hello to all the new followers from the last few weeks including you 5 lovely people following with Bloglovin. I’d love to know who you are, please let me know!

Pretty dress for a horsey day out

24.7.11i24.7.11h24.7.11k

Yesterday I had a wonderful afternoon at the Household Cavalry open day at Bodney Camp. The weather was beautiful! I wore this pretty yet practical Primark dress I bought from ebay (roughly £4 inc p+p). I love the length, the piping and the lovely floral pattern.

I only managed a few photos, most of which were pants, so here are the better ones.

24.7.11d24.7.11e

Think this is a drum horse, minus the drums. The horse is HUGE, the rider is not tiny.

The musical ride warming up (I guess, we left before watching them do their show), they’re looking very smart.

24.7.11f24.7.11g

The temporary stable blocks. We went round them to see the horses. The smell was divine, it takes me right back.

The crowds and the main ring, with showjumps. The sight of the jumps makes my heart beat that little bit faster.

Blue skies, that was the order of the day. What a wonderful time.

30x30 the full lineup

Behold all 30 of the 30x30 outfits. The good, the bad and the ugly!

301a302a303a304b305a306b307a308a309c3010c3011d3012b3013d3014d3015a3016c3017e3018c3019a3020b3021e3022c3023d3024d3025b3026e3027b3028b3029a3030d

That was it. All 30 outfits made with my 30 items. To be honest, looking back at the pictures all assembled together I’m really pleased with myself. Its not immediately apparent I’m working with a limited amount of items. Despite somewhat foolishly including so many prints and colours I think I made it work. Of course there are a couple of looks I would happily delete I think on the whole there are a good mix and variety of styles going on.

I’d like to thank you all for your generous words and support throughout the challenge, it was all much appreciated. I’d recommend the 30x30 challenge to anyone. It definately pushes you into being creative and trying new things. The challenge is always open but if you want to play along with Kendi (like I did) she starts it every few months.
