on trend: the bold jumper

o4o3o2o1
Its the first of September. Let me just say it: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I'm not ready yet!

I must confess that I wore this outfit back in the spring.  Its more of an Autumn/Winter look anyway. I’m so glad the bold jumper is going to be big, I love big snuggly jumpers! I think I’ll be wearing this again or as many versions as I can muster anyway!

This year I’ve been drawn to dressing in a more boyish way and I like the cheekiness of tucking my hair up in the hat.

I haven’t taken any photos of my last three days worth of outfits as I’ve been dressing in a very boring slobby manner. The colder weather is getting me down. If I don’t wear something presentable soon we’ll be scraping the bottom of the barrel with the post I’ve been saving for a rainy day!

If you haven't noticed already, I've made a tab with a list of blogs I love. If you have a blog button that I have put there already them let me know. I'm dreadfully slow on my own! And obviously I now have my choice of two along the side 'ere   ----->

Chinos and polos

“Sophie, why are you pulling such strange faces in these pictures?” I hear you ask. Well, I was eating a polo. I wont do that  again in a hurry, I look rather sulky and pouty!
I picked up these chinos from Peacocks after seeing them at full price (£16) and then noticing them in the sale rack for £8. I thought I’d give them a try. To be honest they are not my type of fit at all, but then that’s why I quite like them, because they’re different.
I wore these on Sunday for a Sunday lunch at the pub. Smart but casual.
I could really do with a favour! I’m guest posting over on Lauren Loves today.

I’m posting about pattern mixing and I could really do with your support, if you could drop by and take a look I’d be really grateful x

I finally got my hands on some coloured jeans. These were hiding in a charity shop and just what I was looking for! It also seemed the perfect opportunity to wear my new Primark ‘deer wearing scarves’ scarf, I just adore the colour.

Top: Unbranded via charity shop £1.50
Scarf: Primark £5 I think
Boots: River Island £35

I have finally got round to giving the blog its well overdue facelift, what do you think? Is it slow loading?
Are there any ‘how to’ guides you would like me to post about in relation to blog changes?
Alert*** alert **** I have TWO blog buttons to choose from. I would love to know if anyone takes one and pops it on their blog, I would be so grateful. HTMLs provided! Thankyou, please! xxx

Going wild with Olivia Wilde

Gosh it’s Monday again, although Hurrah and Harroo its a bank holiday so I’m not working. Inspiration Monday strikes back courtesy of Two Birds and this week we look to Olivia Wilde for our outfit.
Here she is, looking pretty cool:

And he’s my bash at it:

Conveniently, this week’s Inspiration Monday called upon the wearing of my final summer dress that had I hadn’t had a chance to wear. I popped into town as Olivia Wilde and I have to say the outfit worked really well. The wind was a little breezy and the mid length skirt coped very well, no flapping! It was the first time I’ve worn these boots from River Island, they were really comfy. I don’t think I’ve ever worn ankle boots and a skirt before, but actually I really liked it.

Flutterbies

23.8.11a23.8.11b

Adding leggings and cropped cardi to my dress. I don’t like the way its turning chillier.

When I wore this, a few days ago, it was rainy and dull outside, so it had to be an indoor photo. Once the nights start pulling in earlier I’ll have to revert to all indoor shots, which are far inferior.

I really am a spring/summer girl and the thought of winter approaching through autumn is deeply saddening. I’ll cling on to the very last remnants of summer.

black & white

I did iron this dress, I really did! I bought this months ago on a whim after I saw about a million of these around. Upon wearing it I realised the top is way lower than I am happy with, hence the scarf to try to distract in case of a wardrobe malfunction. The skirt is quite sturdy so even though it’s short, it’s not in danger of blowing up if the wind should get up. I added a belt as it felt a bit plain without it.
Note to self: Do I have a belt dependency? Entirely possible.
Dress: New Look via ebay £4 inc p+p
Scarf: charity shop £1.50
Belt: Asos with voucher
Sandals: Chix £15
Oh and my amazingly thoughtful husband bought me a remote for my camera. Outfit shots are now infinitely quicker and simpler. Best buy of the year so far!

I hope everyone has a great weekend, especially us in the UK with our long weekend.

Weekend in Birmingham: Sunday

21.8.11a21.8.11b
You can just about make out that I’m wearing a green leopard print dress. I hadn’t had a chance to wear it yet so I was pleased to finally put it on. I hope I’ll be able to make it work in Autumn with tights or socks and boots and a jacket.
Shortly after indulging in my second full English breakfast in a row, we left  and headed back to pick up the dog.
Just a couple of shots from the garden. Tomatoes and flowers.

So I have to say I really enjoyed our stay in Birmingham. It made for a lovely weekend break.

Weekend in Birmingham: Saturday

20.8.11a
The one picture of my outfit that isn’t completely out of focus. Thinking about it now, I’m not sure I’d put bright tan shoes with red check trousers again, but hey, I was happy on the day I wore them.
So from Sutton Coldfield we took the train to Birmingham New Street which turned out to be enormous, like an airport terminal!
Our first port of call was to the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. What a fabulous place, perfect for spending a few hours. Just before we reached the museum I just had to stop and take some pictures!

We spent a good few hours of shopping and browsing. There really are masses of shops in Birmingham, multiples of many! The Bullring shopping centre was crammed full of great shops. We even headed out to the Mailbox and pretended we were monied enough to buy art. The Mailbox and its fancy shops were so quiet. I wasn’t surprised, it was quite a trek from the main centre and you really had to have a ton of money to buy anything there…
It turns out thanks to my binge on breakfast I wasn’t hungry for lunch, so by the time it struck 6 I was ravenous and hit Pizza Express before heading back to the hotel for a snooze. It felt like a really full day and I proudly bought nothing at all.
Oh and well chuffed, we had no trouble finding the right train to get back again.

Weekend in Birmingham: Friday

19.8.11a19.8.11b
On Friday afternoon we set off for our weekend away in Sutton Coldfield. We had hotel vouchers to use. Surprisingly it wasn’t actually too much of a trek. I wore my seventies style tunic dress. I love the pattern. I wore shorts underneath but they’re not even visible.
19.8.11c19.8.11d
the hotel was exactly what I hoped it would be. Traditional and grand. Not REALLY grand, just grand looking. Kind of how it might have looked 100 years ago. Lovely.
We went into town to find food. Sadly we ended up at TGI Fridays. Never been into one before. The portions were quite large. We shared filled potato skins, there were10 between the two of us. Sheesh. Bit much.

I would have taken a shot of my main, a cheese burger, which was far too much for me, served with fries. I waddled out somewhat stuffed.
I’ll post more in the next few days

Olivia Palermo and I

Its inspiration Monday time again. Who would have thought. To take a look at what everyone else wore take a look at Two Birds.
Today we are using Olivia Palmero as our inspiration. I’ll be honest, I don’t know her although I’ve heard her name being flung around.

And here is my version:
im4
Eek the high-waisted shorts are none too flattering but tally-ho I wore it. I either had plain jackets or a blingy bolero so I went for bling as I never wear it. These shoes are pretty fan-da-bi-dozi but I haven’t worn them yet.
Shirt -  Sasparilla via ebay £3.50 all in
Bolero – River Island via ebay £3.50 all in
Shorts – Asos with voucher
Shoes – Fiore wide fit via ebay £4.50 all in
Necklace – Fat Face £2

I’ve been away for a 2 night stay in Birmingham this weekend and I’ll tell you all about it this week.
Just found out about the Manchester blogger meet up and I’m actually considering going along (Saturday 10th September). I would love to know if anyone else is going as I would feel more than alarmed going if I knew NOBODY at all.
