30 The last one

3030a3030e3030d3030c3030b

And relax! It’s the last outfit, completing my autumn 30x30 challenge. I’m so relieved I’m, finished, it really seems to have dragged. Now I’m free to wear whatever I want.

I’ve been cooking again and have my photo scavenger hunt to come so more interesting blog posts coming your way.

Ethical outfit

In a very last minute decision to enter, here is my look for the Style Eyes Ethical Outfit competition.

I don’t give a dreadful lot of thought to that fact that indeed I do shop GREEN. Pretty much all the clothes I own are second hand. Here is my chosen outfit, one of my favourite recent looks. The blouse was a charity shop buy at about £3 or £3.50 and the skirt may have been from the very same charity shop if my memory serves me correctly, also about £3.50. The boots were a River Island sale purchase

I don’t much fancy spending big bucks for current trends. The lure of charity shops is that you never know what you might find. Most likely nothing of interest but every now and again you might find a little gem!

Do check out the Style Eyes blog for a fab read!

Spaghetti all puttanesca, crunchy salad, garlic bread, silky chocolate ganache…

It seems to have been an eternity since we cooked and I blogged about cooking one of Jamie Oliver’s 30 minute meals. Anyway, I wanted to cook this meal again, the first one we tried, about a year ago now, before I started blogging.

When we made this last year I really enjoyed the meal, except the salad, which is supposed to be fennel, radish and lemon. I had never tried fennel before, but I have come to accept that fennel is not for me. So this time we used a nice salad of mixed leaves and beetroot.

So this time it was good to know that I was going to like what we were cooking, the smells were delicious. I love things sizzling in a pan, sending an aroma of yumitude around the kitchen. mmmm. 26.11.11c

The meal does take very close to the 30 minutes promised and produces minimal washing up.

26.11.11

Naturally we were unable to find a single long ciabatta or a leaf of fresh parsley. The garlic bread turned out looking delicious.

No prizes for presentation but I was hungry and impatient to get eating!

26.11.11b

The main dish is divine, although I would never would have thought I would have been saying this about a tuna dish. Seriously, even if you don’t much like tuna, this dish will taste great to you too.

And the dessert, so perfect for this time of year! I used milk chocolate instead of dark (as always)

This is definitely one of my favourites!

29 Weather appropriate

30293029c3029e3029d3029b

This is what I changed into yesterday to be more weather appropriate . You can’t really see but I’m wearing my grey long sleeved top underneath my cardi. It’s my least seen 30x30 item, but that’s pretty much why I included it. Extra warmth and an unseen layer.

The scarf, although adorable, has been something of a puzzle to wear. However, I took my new found scarf tying knowledge from here and hey presto, it makes the scarf wearable.

You may have noticed that I’m wearing my recently re-heeled boots. While in town today I had my black buckled boots re-heeled while I waited, only took five minutes, very impressive service.

28 As if

3028c3028a3028b3028e3028d

As if it’s warm enough to wear this outfit! I wasn’t foolish for long and after an hour of two I had to change. The idea of this look was to keep the navy from the top running down to my legs, but these tights are in fact more of an indigo! The orange belt matches up with the orangey design of the top. That was the theory anyway.

27 Tanked up

3027c3027a3027b3027d3027e

I’m back and I have been wearing clothes today. All good. I do indeed look somewhat grey with the merest hint of red. It’s almost winter so it’s surely got to be allowed. I’ve just got three more outfits to make out of my most hated 30 items before I can wear what I want.

Side note: Has anyone seen my grey check pinafore dress I wore non-stop last winter? I cannot find it anywhere and I’m going to be hopping mad if it doesn’t show up soon.

So the great giveaway result: After entering all the legit entries into the frame (when will people learn to read the rules?!) I sauntered over to Random.org and here are the results:

Well done Hazel! I will be in touch soon.

I do have to say that I was pleasantly surprised how much love the current title of my blog has, thank you! I had such a laugh with your wonderful alternative suggestions. WOULD you believe it, the slang term ‘broad’ has not made it as far as Norfolk or Suffolk, which is just daft as we live near the Broads. I had to Google why Norfolk Broad would be a funny pun. I despair!

Cobblers

I realised my brown boots had got into a right state and needed some urgent attention, so I took a chance and surrendered them to the local cobbler. The heel tips had worn right down and were about to start eating into the main heel itself.

The story with me and these brown boots goes back. I guess about 18 months ago I bought them from ebay as ‘new’ and ‘leather’. I paid about £6.50 inc p+p. They turned up and were clearly not new (and I’m still unsure whether they’re leather). The toes had obviously got scuffed and had been polished. I complained but kept them as they fit so well and were comfortable to wear – rare! Well fast forward to last week, I must have walked miles and miles in them since I got them. So £6 was what the cobbler charged me and when he handed them over and fixed up they actually look better than when I bought them. Really impressed.

heel1

Note the scuffed toes? Exactly the same as when I bought them. They’ve not not any worse!

heel2

The heels have been all shined up and look far better than before. Great service. I probably ought to give them a polish.

If you haven’t already entered my giveaway then make sure you do here! Rather lovely prize up for grabs and ends very very soon. Existing followers only giveaway1_thumb_thumb_thumb_thumb

Castle Acre in the fog

On Sunday we took a late afternoon trip out to Castle Acre. I hadn’t been there for literally decades. The sunset and descending mist made for some great shots. We may well pay the hefty entrance fees to the Castle and/or Priory for some interesting photo opportunities another time. I’ll leave you with a Stealth and Hasty Warning that made me laugh…
