Sun-drenched

25.2.12b25.2.12g25.2.12e25.2.12d25.2.12c

My hair decided to style itself today and for some reason it chose big and curly. Over the many years of wearing my head of hair I have learned not to fight it more than really necessary so I went mad with hairspray and left it at that. Rather like it for a change.

So technically the over exposed photos are a bit of a fail but I think they are just marvellous considering it is still February. I wore this outfit to town on Saturday (wearing my new favourite boots again) and it was a very comfy ensemble if I do say so myself. Oh and notice my clever use of my pearly necklace as a bracelet.

Drawing inspiration from Drew

Oh yes, it’s Inspiration Monday over at Two Birds and this week we are looking at this outfit from Drew Barrymore.

Would you believe I don’t have a black tee? I had to wear this printed shirt.

It’s no secret that I don’t always wear my inspiration outfits for long. This one was under 10 minutes. I wanted to dress up but then reality called.

Assortment of food

A quick post to share some random food pictures with you. I hope you’re not feeling hungry…

tart

I had some leftover pastry so made a little tart and topped with tomato, cheese, red peppers, tomatoes and spring onions. It wasn’t too bad. Rather quick too.

My husband made a delicious victoria sponge last week and another this week too. Mustn’t get used to this!

Another dish by hubby, this time a lamb pie. No idea how he made it but thought I’d share the picture as it looks so good!

Chicken and Chorizo Stew

I had some chicken and chorizo that needed using up and found this recipe but tweaked it quite  bit…

Granted, the photo looks hideous but the eating was excellent, I felt like I had topped my personal best in using up leftovers. My husband really enjoyed it too so it can’t have been that bad.

The last snowflakes

18.2.12b18.2.12e18.2.12d18.2.12c

I made it outside! First of the year, here is to many more outside photo opportunities.

18.2.12a

This jumper dress was sourced from a local charity shop a few weeks ago. If you don’t love it yet, trust me, by next Christmas you will!

18.2.12f

Remember when I entered the Sarenza Ambassador competition? I declared my love for these boots. I didn’t win, so I ummed and arrred a bit then went ahead and parted with my £62 in exchange for a pair. I’m so happy with them! They walked me all round town and didn’t hurt my feet at all.

These pictures were taken on Saturday when it was mild, but not hot like today!

Pollock and chorizo stew

pollock

I really wish my food pictures came out better, they do look nicer in real life, honestly. I’m going to lecture you about fish, oh yes. Unless you have an allergy or an intolerance to the guys, fish is a really important part of a healthy diet. My sneaky way is having it battered or breaded or buying it with gloopy sauce all over. What is actually best for you is a nice slab of fresh fish. Add in to that eating sustainable fish and you have yourself a quandary. The only place I can find with a good fish counter is Morrisons, it really is quite a spectacle.

I found this recipe which did ask for cod or haddock. Hello? That’s not sustainable! So I went for  pollock which, to an ignorant fish eater like me, seems no different to cod at all. Slightly cheaper too. Well the chorizo is rather unhealthy but it does provide the dish with delicious flavour! All in all it was a compromise, eating fish and trying to make it nice.

Are you in for fish sustainability?

Last Tuesday night

I don’t want to drone on too much about last Tuesday but I did want to share my culinary triumph with you. A homemade curry! I saw this recipe on Charlotte’s blog ‘Teacher In Style’ and knew I had to give it a go.

v2v3

It turned out delicious! I used chicken, red pepper, green beans, baby sweetcorn, onion, apple so a good amount of healthy stuff in there. Served with garlic bread.

I was also presented with some lovely flowers.

I have a few more foodie posts to share with you soon so keep your eyes peeled.

How do you eat yours?

pancake1

I made proper pancakes today and they were rather tasty too. My topping of choice is orange juice and sugar. No sour lemons here please! A rather pleasant five made my dinner tonight and now I’m feeling quite full.

Sarah-Jessica Parker Inspiration Monday

It’s Inspiration Monday over at Two Birds and today we are taking inspiration from Sarah-Jessica Parker. I think I' may well be the only woman who hasn’t watched Sex and The City and love SJP to bits. I couldn’t care less about her to be honest.

The colour blocking going on here is admirable but no way am I ready for bare legs.

New-to-me shoes being rocked here. Not the best of condition but you can’t really tell. It is such a struggle to find shoes I don’t walk out of. I quite like this look, probably not one I would have come up with myself. Thanks Two Birds!
